The Magnificent Scenery

Woodend's location is stunning. Being on the fell, it is surrounded by hills and mountains and wherever you are there is a breathtaking view, (providing there is no low cloud, of course!)

It is in fact quite difficult to spot Woodend from the road and it is only visible for about a quarter of a mile. Because of this, however, it has uninterrupted views in all directions.

Devoke Water with it's derelict boathouse is less than a mile away and takes ten to fifteen minutes to reach on foot. Devoke Seat, which can be seen from Woodend, overlooks Devoke Water and from here you can see the sea and the Isle of Man on a clear day.

Scafell Pike and Bow Fell can be seen from almost everywhere and are about eight miles away. (Perfectly reachable on foot in a day as an expedition for the more adventurous!)
