Booking
Conditions
Payment
We
are happy to accept an online or telephone provisional booking and reserve
your accommodation, provided we receive payment of £100 for the
deposit within 5 working days. If, however, we do not receive your
deposit within this period, the provisional booking will be cancelled.
Once we have received your deposit a booking confirmation (usually by
email) will be sent to you within 7 working days.
The balance of the payment is due eight weeks prior to the commencement
of your holiday.
Arrival
and departure times
Your accommodation
will be ready for you after 4.00 pm on the first day of your stay, (usually
Saturday), and we ask you to depart by 10.00 am on the last day of your
stay.
Cleaning
The gap between departure and arrival times enables us to thoroughly clean
the cottages between lets. However, we do expect our guests to leave the
cottages in a clean and orderly condition (ie. plates/cutlery put away,
fridge emptied and cleaned, worktops wiped down, floors swept/hoovered,
fire emptied, rubbish put out, etc)
A condition of your booking is that you agree to do this.
What
is included?
Towels and bed linen are provided as is the storage heating and a supply
of coal for the fires. We provide Sky digital television except
the box office movies which are normally "pay as you view" and
are not available in the cottages.
The
House
The house is available during the high season. The owner lives
in the house for some of the year and many items are left to enhance the
appearance of the holiday accommodation (eg. the musical instruments on
the walls in the lounge). Please respect this. Also the kitchen has solid
oak worktops and you are asked to take particular care with hot pans and
when cutting, using the numerous boards and trivets available for protection.
We respectfully ask that the hirer brings this to the attention of
all those in the party - especially the children!
Please see the notes below on breakages, loss and damage
Dogs
We do not make a charge for dogs as know that you
appreciate being able to take our dog on holiday with you. However, we
have had a series of disastrous dog experiences and would like to bring
your attention to the following:
Dogs are
not allowed in the bedrooms.
Dogs are not allowed on any items of furniture.
Dogs
must never be left in the cottage when you go out unless a prior arrangement
has been made with us. (We had one dog left alone all day and he destroyed
whole items of furniture for which we had to make an extra charge)
You as the owner take responsibility for the additional cleaning and
hoovering of the living areas that may result at the end of your stay.
ie. fouling, chewing and especially moulting!
A condition of your booking is that you agree to do this.
Woodend is set in the middle of a sheep farm and the farmer would like us to bring to your attention that dogs should be kept under control at all times.
Your co-operation
will ensure that our no charging policy can continue!
Smoking
As a courtesy to other visitors all areas of the cottages are non-smoking!
Smokers are welcome to smoke outside but please disgard your butts
thoughtfully!
Care
Please take good care of the property and contents.
Liability
The tenants agree that neither the owners nor any person in their employ
will be liable to any member of the their party for any loss, damage,
sickness or injury, including baggage, car and contents, howsoever caused,
which may be sustained by the tenants or any member of their party, or
any person whom the tenants may have invited into the accommodation and
grounds of the property during the holiday period.
Access
The owner shall be allowed access to the property at any reasonable time
for any essential maintenance. Wherever possible this would be by prior
arrangement.
Insurance
Holiday
cancellation insurance is recommended and is available from many insurance
companies.
Cancellation
Should you need to cancel your holiday, please inform us as soon as possible.
Provided we receive notification before the balance of rental is due,
then only your deposit will be forfeited. However after this date you
will be liable to pay the total cost of your booking. We will do our best
to re-let and if successful we will refund your balance.
Children
They are of course very welcome. For babies and toddlers we have one travel
cot and one highchair available on a "first come first served"
basis.
Breakages,
loss and damage
These must be notified to the owner, during your stay or on
your departure, who shall be entitled to charge for replacement.
Occupancy
The cottages are offered only on the understanding that the number of
people that you have booked for will be accommodated and that no more
than 6 people (plus a baby) will use the house and no more than 2 people
(plus a baby) will use the bothy.
Computing and the Internet
(House and Cottage)
We
have a 1Meg wireless broadband internet access. (That's the fastest we can get because of our remote position). The telephone line, comes five miles
across the fell from Boot and on rare occasions can be erratic. You
are welcome to use this free of charge for wireless internet conncection. For the majority of the time
it will be perfectly OK but we cannot give you a 100% guarantee that it will always
function. It is particularly susceptible to really heavy downpours.
Internet in the House
There is a PC with a printer provided in the house for research purposes only. It is NOT to be used for online internet gaming or downloads!
If you
have a laptop computer with a wifi interface then you will
be able to access this in all areas of the house.
Internet in the Cottage
Depending upon the range of your laptop wifi interface, you may be able to access this in limited areas of the cottage (directly adjacent to the house), however, we cannot guarantee this!
Skype Internet Telephone
There is no mobile reception at Woodend.
We have a Skype internet telephone (rather like the Tesco internet phone). It is connected to the computer and is very easy to use and allows you to call numbers starting with 01 and 02 for free and receive incoming calls as long as the computer is switched on.
Incoming Calls - The phone number is 020 8133 1758 if you want to let friends and family know and you can use this phone to receive incoming calls at no cost (however, it will cost the caller their usual price of a call). Nb. Skype does not allow you to dial for the emergency services ie. 999
